In The Market, the first film Robakowski produced with the Workshop of the Film Form (Lodz), the artist attempts to expose film´s potential of creating an illusion of reality, just as was done in the feature film industry. This feeling of reality is, to him, merely a product of technology and, more precisely, the effect of the standard frame rate in the camera or the projector (24 frames per second). A slight modification of this speed, or filming at a different frame rate gives an entirely different perspective of recorded reality. For example, five frames every two seconds, which is the case in this film, that was shot for nine hours on November 25, 1970 in Lodz.
